#aufstehen – stand up in solidarity with refugees
Inspired by a pivotal scene in my short film The Hostage, where passengers prevent a deportation by standing up together, the campaign #aufstehen was born.
Together with fellow creatives and activists, we invited people to film themselves standing up – as a visible, peaceful act against deportations and for human dignity.
Artists like Olaf Schubert, Benno Fürmann, Claudia Cardinale, Ulrike Frank or Nina Petri joined the call.
The campaign was accompanied by an original "#aufstehen" rap by MC Nuri and MC Trelos.
Run entirely on a voluntary basis, this project shows how art and activism can unite to spark real social change.
#aufstehen RAP
The refugee artists MC Trelos from Afghanistan and MC Nuri from Russia recorded the rap for our campaign.
Short clip with Olaf Schubert
If passengers stand up on a plane, it can’t take off. That’s how a deportation can be stopped. Our campaign #StandUp in solidarity with refugees is based on exactly that.
Many well-known public figures like Benno Fürmann, Claudia Cardinale, Ulrike Frank, Thorsten Merten, Sven Martinek and Nina Petri supported the project.
Here’s Olaf showing you how to stand up — yes, it’s that easy.
